Lewisville Site Rep

I have not been letterboxing in quite some time. Between Having and caring for my child and work, there just wasn't enough time.

Now that my child is old enough, I'm starting to take her on adventures. I tried to geocache with her but it wasn't a good area. Too many bushes and thorns.

I decided to reach out to the local letterboxing community for good boxes that are kid friendly, a short walk, and not in too much "nature." I was given a few suggestions and I decided on a whim that we'd go today.

We had trouble with the first one because it was in an overgrown grassy area. So we went to another one. It was a success!  I little kiddo's first letterbox find (with help from mom).

And thee was a dog park nearby. We love dogs so we went in and the owners let us visit!

She enjoyed her first letterboxing adventure and I a happy to share this hobby with her!

YouTube Series

I have decided to create a YouTube series for letterboxing. I know there is already stuff out there but I wanted to add my own spin to it. I'm vlogging this! Stay tuned, I will be putting the links or videos here.

I am so excited!! I've already made one video (that needs editing) and am currently writing up "scripts" for the rest.

So, if you have some suggestions for what you would like to see included in my series, let me know!

Site Rep: Commerce Tx

My wonderful husband took me to find a letterbox the other day. It was a bit of a surprise for me. He ended up taking me to Commerce. There are three boxes listed on AQ. One in a coffee shop (found), one next to a library (missing) and one that has a 1.5 mile hike (not attempted - too dang hot!).

I thought it was really sweet of him to think of me in this little way. He doesn't do letterboxing anymore.

Woohoo!

Austin Boxin' July 9

While I was in Austin two weeks ago, I took my mom to the capitol building. The entire time I was running around, I kept thinking "wish I had my boxing supplies with me!"

I brought my supplies with me to Austin but only carried it around on one day. My birthday. I found Lone Star State and License Plate Series (1) TEXAS.

Ryan and Ivy and I will be going back to Austin next week. Maybe I can sneak in some more boxing!

Site Rep: Dallas Arboretum

March 28th was the Scottish Society of Dallas' Tardan Day Ceilidh. We went just because. I had intended to plant my letterbox but we left home later than intended.

A boxer who found my Twilight Saga boxes (but missing the third stamp as the box needs replacing) met us there. We exchanged sig stamps and I let her stamp the missing stamp that I re-carved. It was nice to meet another boxer. She (and her husband) are very outgoing, friendly people. Of course, what letterboxer isn't?

Yesterday, we went to the Dallas Arboretum to take some pictures. While there, I attempted another find. I had a feeling that it was missing since the last record was labeled as attempted and that was a year ago but figured I'd give it a try anyway. Yup, missing.

Maybe in the upcoming weekends when the weather is a bit warmer, we'll have another picnic at White Rock Lake to plant my latest box.

Site Rep: White Rock Lake; Introducing boxing.

Found the Lady of the Lake box.
Attempted All Things Great and Small #4 - was I in the right spot? I don't know.
Intended to plant my Tartan box but I didn't have time.

And, I introduced boxing to one of my students. I wanted to place above mentioned box today for a Scottish celebration at the lake tomorrow. And I didn't know that Ryan would be working. So I asked a student to tag-along babysit. Mostly, her job was to stay in the car with the baby while I hunted down/placed boxes. I thought boxing would be something she'd be into so I got her to carve a stamp yesterday and hooked her up with a logbook. Seems like she may enjoy this hobby. And I might take her boxing again at a later date.
